Alcohol and Pregnancy

Pregnant women can make healthy choices before, during and after pregnancy to keep themselves and their babies healthy. Partners, family members and friends can help.

If you are pregnant, or think you may be pregnant, one of the best choices you can make is not drink alcohol your pregnancy. This shows respect for yourself and respect for your baby.  Drinking alcohol during pregnancy hurts your baby and slows their brain development. This condition is called Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and it is the most common type of preventable damage to an unborn baby’s brain. There is no safe time and no safe amount of alcohol for a pregnant woman to drink.  Choose to respect yourself, respect your baby and protect your baby’s health by not drinking.
